Italy’s Lucefin Group posts strong growth in 2010

Esine, Brescia-based Italian drawn, rolled and forged steel producer Lucefin Group has announced its financial results for 2010.

Accordingly, Lucefin's sales revenue reached €184.6 million and its net profit was €6.8 million for the year in question, growing respectively by 49 percent and 38.7 percent year on year. EBITDA also increased by 41.9 percent year on year to €17.6 million.

According to Luigi and Giorgio Buzzi, president and CEO of the company respectively, in the first quarter of the current year Lucefin has seen a positive performance. Preliminary data indicated a 30 percent increase in sales volumes and a 65 percent rise in sales revenue.

Lucefin Group operates two mills in Italy: Trafilix, specialized in cold drawn steel bars, posted €85 million in sales revenue and €2.1 million in net profit in 2010; and Tre Valli Acciai, specialized in peeled-reeled steel bars, saw sales revenue of €56.9 million and a net profit of €1.4 million last year. Lucefin Group also operates Trafil Czech in the Czech Republic, which saw its sales volume rise by 147 percent year on year to 20,580 mt in the given year.

Lucefin president, Giorgio Buzzi, said: "2010 allows us to look ahead with confidence, and the first three months of 2011 confirm the uptrend."
