Italian construction output up 5.6 percent in August from July

According to ISTAT, Italy's national statistics office, in August this year the Italian construction output index increased by 5.6 percent month on month. The percentage change of the average of the June-August quarter, with respect to the previous quarter, indicated a decrease of 0.4 percent.

The calendar adjusted index of production in the Italian construction sector decreased by 1.0 percent compared with August 2010 (calendar working days were 22 as in August 2010), while in the January-August period this year the index decreased by 2.0 percent compared with the same period of 2010.

The unadjusted index of production in the Italian construction sector in August this year decreased by 0.9 percent compared with August 2010. Comparing the average of the first eight months of 2011 with the same period of 2010 the index decreased by 2.5 percent.
