Ispat plans to increase HRC production

The Mittal-promoted Ispat Industries plans to increase its annual HRC production to 2 million tonnes with an increase of 60% through its current financial sources. Related with this plan, the company is now conducting an expansion process at its mills. In the framework of this expansion process, the mill located in Dolvi with the annual capacity of 1.5 million tonnes HRC production is expected to produce 1.6 million tonnes by the end of 2003. With the other mills undergoing trial operations, Ispat expects to increase its annual total HRC production to 2.4 million tonnes. Next step will be increasing the capacity to 3 million tonnes. Apart from HRC production, Ispat also plans to increase its finished products output at its Kalmeshwar unit, which produces CR products, especially galvanised steel.
