Iran ups both output and export of iron ore

During the first eight months of the Iranian year 1386 (21.03.2007-20.11.2007), Iran mined  21,356,141  mt of iron ore and produced 13,621,423 mt of iron ore concentrate, representing an increase of 11 percent and 13 percent respectively compared with the corresponding period of the Iranian year 1385, according to the official statistics released by the Iranian authorities. 

During the period in question, Iran exported  2.9 million mt of iron ore with a value of $189  million, showing a tonnage increase of nine percent compared with the corresponding period of the previous year.

Iran's recognized iron ore reserves amount to a total of 4.5 billion mt.
