Iran plans to step up its mineral exploration activities

Iran's Ministry of Industries and Mines aims to expand its mineral exploration activities by taking measures such as raising the relevant budget and improving exploration equipment, according to officials at the ministry's metallurgical division.
 
More than 4,000 mines are being exploited in Iran currently. This figure is expected to be increased to 4,900 by the end of 2011.
