Iran: No consensus on limiting steel imports

Steel industry sources report that Iran has yet to come to an agreement about limiting its steel imports. Iran's Industries and Mines Ministry proposal calls for a limit on steel imports of 1.8 million tons. Suggestions from representatives of Iran's Steel Producing Association indicate that a tariff system would be better than a quota system. They added, that imposing tariffs would probably not harm local producers. So far, discussions on the topic have been postponed until the organization's next session.
