India Stainless Steel Industries Association has stated that it opposes the initiation of an antidumping duty investigation against stainless steel imports, saying that the facts furnished by a leading domestic manufacturer for the investigations are "misleading".

According to its press release of December 26, the association states it has written a letter to India's Directorate General of Anti-Dumping and Allied Duties, Ministry of Commerce opposing the initiation of any antidumping investigation against stainless steel imports.

President of the association Badri Baldawa stated, " The Jindal company, which requests the Ministry of Commerce to initiate an antidumping investigation, does not make steel in the required specifications of certain products, which necessitates manufacturers to import stainless steel. The industry has to depend on imports to meet the needs of international buyers. The industry has urged the ministry to call off the antidumping investigation on stainless steel products and not to impose any duty on high grade stainless steel which is currently not being manufactured in the country."
