India’s RINL plans production of auto grade steel

Indian government owned and operated steel producer Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) will use part of its recently expanded capacity for production of auto grade steel and railway steel products, company sources said on Friday, December 1.

The company sources said that at least 1 million mt of production from the expanded capacity will be for production of these special steel products via the introduction of new technologies.

RINL has recently completed brownfield expansion of its steel facility located in the southern coastal town of Vishakhapatnam, from 3 million mt per year to 6 million mt per year, and added another 1 million mt of capacity through modernization of its existing plant and equipment.

Primarily a long product manufacturer, RINL will earns higher margins from the sale of value-added products in 2018-19, upon completion of a full one year of production of such products, the source said.
