India’s BCCL gets two new coking coal blocks

India’s Ministry of Coal has allocated two coal blocks to Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), the sole domestic miner and supplier of coking coal to steel mill, a government official said on Monday.

Though information of geological reserves of the Greenfield blocks was available, the official said that two blocks which has been allocated to BCCL, the wholly owned operational subsidiary of state-run miner Coal India Limited (CIL) are located in eastern states of Bihar and Jharkhand.

The two blocks are among the eight new coal blocks with aggregate reserves of 1.3 billion ton has been allocated to CIL through preferential allotment permitted by law to government mining companies, the official added.
