India has announced that it will raise duties by up to 100 percent on 20 US products in retaliation for non-exemption of US Section 232 aluminum and steel tariffs. India has said that the duty imposed by US has affected steel exports by $134.4 million, while aluminum exports were affected by $31.16 million.

The increase in duties will be effective from June 21, 2018.

The 20 items include peas, chickpeas, fresh apple, walnut (100 percent), cashew nuts (10 percent), soybean oil, refined palm olein, coco powder, chocolate products (10 percent), golf carts (50 percent), motor cycle with engine capacity over 800 cc (50 percent) and other goods vehicles, with spark-ignition internal combustion piston engine.

New Delhi and Washington will discuss trade issues, including aluminum and steel tariffs when US trade officials reach India in the last week of June for bilateral discussions.
