India may change scrap import policy

Indian Customs Department has recently announced that following the incident at Bhusan Steel's factory, it is considering changing the scrap import policy. As reported by SteelOrbis yesterday, a blast occurred at Bhusan Steel's factory in Ghaziabad due to imported scrap containers, containing explosives. Following this incident, Customs officials announced that they plan to change the scrap import policy. Accordingly, a special expert cell is planned to be formed to monitor scrap imports from West Asia and other war-ravaged areas. Moreover, the officials are considering to submit a complaint to the Iranian officials against the agency at the Bandar Abbas port, which certified that the containers did not contain explosives.
