South Korean steel producer Hyundai Steel has been stepping up its development of high carbon hot rolled coil (HRC), as reported by domestic steel industry sources.

Hyundai Steel has already started commercial production of SM45C and SM50C grades of HRC, after finishing product tests last year. The steel producer sold about 2,000 mt of these products last year for use in mechanical structures and is aiming to sell about 10,000 mt this year.

Hyundai Steel has also finished the development of high carbon hot rolled coil of SM435, SM415, SNCM 220 and SK5 grades, even though it has not yet started commercial production of these grades.
