Huaye stainless project first phase begins production

China's Huaye Special Steel Company completed the first phase of its stainless steel project in northern China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Completion of the first phase of the three-phase project allows Huaye to produce 600'000 tons of continuous cast stainless steel billets per annum. The second phase of the project will provide Huaye with an added 600'000 tons of hot rolled stainless medium width strip and 60'000 tons cold rolled stainless medium width strip per annum when it is completed in April 2006. The third phase project will start in early 2007. This final phase will increase the medium plate production by 300'000 tons when it is completed the following year.
