One of the largest European longs producers, Greece-based Halyvourgiki, has announced the completion of a major investment to upgrade its production facilities and increase its capacity level up to one million metric tons annually.

Furthermore, Halyvourgiki is investing in the installation of a new state-of-the-art spooler line for the production of rebars in high quality, heavy weight coils.

The new equipment will be manufactured and installed by the Italian plantmaker Danieli.

The new spooler line will allow the company to extend its production range to 8-20 mm diameter deformed bars in ultra-compact coils weighing up to 3.5 mt.

The spooler process grants an unique cobble-free uncoiling capability which means that it is possible to feed coils directly to downstream cold processing lines without any intermediate operation (uncoiling, stretching, and recoiling), with considerable benefits to both hot rolling operations and product end-users.

The combined application of the new spooler line with the EWR billet welding system for endless rolling will enable the company to manufacture custom-weight coils up to 3.5 mt, regardless of the weight of inputted billets.
