German rolled steel prices down 5.5 percent in August

As reported by Germany's Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), in August this year the producer prices of industrial products in Germany rose by 1.6 percent compared to August 2011 prices and were up slightly by 0.5 percent compared to July of the current year.

The office noted that in August this year energy was more expensive by around 3.2 percent compared with the same month of the previous year, and rose 1.3 percent month on month. Without considering energy, producer prices were up 0.9 percent on year-on-year basis and rose slightly by 0.2 percent compared to July.

In August, prices of intermediate goods decreased slightly by 0.2 percent, while rolled steel prices fell by 5.5 percent, both compared to the same month of 2011.
