According to the latest figures from the US International Trade Commission, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled 5,016,113 mt for the full-year 2017, a 17.8 percent increase from full-year 2016 results.
Turkey was the largest recipient of US iron and scrap exports in 2017 with 3,631,496 mt, which increased 14.1 percent from 2016. Other notable destinations in 2017 include: Mexico, with 1,666,772 mt; Taiwan, with 1,418,761 mt; China, with 1,016,607 mt; and Canada, with 919,067 mt.
In terms of value, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled $1.02 billion in 2017, a 48.6 percent increase compared to 2016.
