According to the latest data regarding
crude steel production in
France released by the French Steel Federation (FFA), in December last year French
crude steel production amounted to 971,700 metric tons, down by 12.5 percent year on year and decreasing by 23.6 percent month month.
In December, steel
production in
France using electric arc furnaces (EAF) fell 10.3 percent year on year, amounting to 332,950 mt, while steel
production with blast furnace (BF) technology totaled 638,700 mt, decreasing by 13.6 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in the whole of 2012
France's
crude steel production totaled 15,607,200 mt, decreasing by 1.1 percent compared to 2011. In 2011,
crude steel production in
France had risen by 2.4 percent year on year, reaching 15,777,750 mt. In 2012, steel
production in
France using electric arc furnaces (EAF) decreased slightly by 0.5 percent to 6,100,000 mt, while steel
production with blast furnace (BF) technology totaled 9,507,200 mt, declining by 1.5 percent, both year on year.
The FFA also noted that domestic
crude steel production in 2012 was still 18.9 percent below the
production figures for the pre-crisis year of 2007.
