Former US Steel COO John Goodish joins board of Optima Specialty Steel

Miami, Florida-based Optima Specialty Steel, Inc., one of North America's leading independent manufacturers of high quality cold drawn seamless tubes and cold finished steel bars, announced Monday that it has appointed John H. Goodish as an independent director of the company, effective June 5, 2012. Goodish was previously with United States Steel Corporation for 40 years.

Mr. Goodish, 63, is a steel industry veteran, joining US Steel in 1970. Before retiring from the company in December 2010, Mr. Goodish served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer where he was responsible for overseeing all of US Steel's operating facilities and helping the enterprise grow its operations in North America and Central Europe. In 2000, Goodish relocated to Slovakia to lead US Steel Kosice, the company's first Central European steelmaking operation. Upon his return to the United States in 2003, Mr. Goodish was elected Executive Vice President of International and Diversified Businesses. He assumed the position he retired with in 2005.
