Fire at Beta Steel may result in temporary shutdown
The fire that took place at Indiana-based steel mill Beta Steel on July 7 will reportedly result in shut down of the mill for a few days. The fire, in which no one was injured, took place in the electric arc furnace area of the plant. Beta Steel officials stated that the fire will cost around $1 million however the number of days the mill will remain closed has not been revealed. The fire is the second at the plant in the last four months. In March, a fire took place in the roof insulation of Beta Steel. Beta Steel, which was opened in 1992, has an annual hot rolled coil production capacity of 800'000 tons.Fire at Beta Steel may result in temporary shutdown
