Swiss-headquartered resources company Ferrexpo, whose main interests are in Ukrainian iron ore assets, has announced that its overall pellet output in September reached the highest monthly level on its record since 1987.
Specifically, in September this year, Ferrexpo registered a 15.8 percent growth month on month in its overall pellet output to 911,100 mt - up 19.8 percent year on year. Meanwhile, its iron ore output went up by 2.1 percent, while its concentrate production decreased by 0.2 percent, both compared to the previous month. The respective figures in metric tons were 2.444 million and 950,600.
In January-September, Ferrexpo's pellet production (from its own raw materials) increased by 5.8 percent year on year to 6.74 million metric tons. The company also processed 704,400 metric tons of pellets from purchased raw materials to meet ongoing higher demand, bringing its overall pellet output to 7.445 million metric tons - up 16 percent year on year.
In addition, in the first nine months of this year, Ferrexpo registered a 3.4 percent increase year on year in its iron ore production to 21.59 million metric tons, while its concentrate production saw an eight percent rise to 8.38 million metric tons.
