Swiss-headquartered resources company Ferrexpo, whose main interests are in Ukrainian iron ore assets, has announced its production results for December and for 2010.
Accordingly, in 2010, Ferrexpo registered a 1.3 percent increase year on year in its iron ore production to 28.93 million metric tons, while its iron ore concentrate production saw a 6.3 percent rise year on year to 11.225 million metric tons.
In 2010, Ferrexpo's pellet production (from its own raw materials) increased by 4.9 percent year on year to 9.033 million metric tons. The company also processed 998,100 metric tons of pellets from purchased raw materials, bringing its overall pellet output to 10.031 million metric tons - up 14.4 percent year on year, as it continued to produce at full capacity to meet ongoing higher demand from steelmakers.
In December 2010, Ferrexpo's pellet production (from its own raw materials) increased by 1.3 percent month on month to 770,400 mt, while its pellet production from purchased raw materials went down by 35.1 percent month on month to 64,400 mt, thus leading to a 2.9 percent drop month on month in the company's overall December pellet output, which amounted to 834,800 mt - up 8.1 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in December, Ferrexpo's iron ore output went up by 3.4 percent while its iron ore concentrate production decreased by 1.3 percent, both compared to the previous month. The respective figures in metric tons were 2.455 million and 934,500.
