Swiss-headquartered resources company Ferrexpo, whose main interests are in Ukrainian iron ore assets, has announced that in the second quarter of the current year its overall pellet production decreased by 2.8 percent year on year to 2.41 million mt. The company's overall pellet production in the first half of 2012 amounted to 4.72 million mt, down 1.3 percent year on year.
In the second quarter, Ferrexpo's pellet production from its own raw materials increased by 1.5 percent year on year, amounting to 2.3 million mt, while its pellet production from third party concentrate saw a decrease of 50.3 percent year on year to 104,900 mt. In January-June, the company's pellet production from its own raw materials increased by 3.8 percent to 4.56 million mt, while its pellet production from third party concentrate declined by 58.5 percent to 162,000 mt, both year on year.
Meanwhile, in April-June, Ferrexpo registered a 3.46 percent rise year on year in its iron ore production to 7.43 million mt, while its iron ore concentrate production saw a 1.08 percent rise year on year to 2.9 million mt. In the first six months of the year, iron ore production of Ferrexpo increased by 5.5 percent to 15 million mt, while its iron ore concentrate production amounted to 5.73 million mt, rising by three percent, both year on year.
