Feng Hsin is closed for maintenance

Taiwanese mill Feng Hsin Iron & Steel Co., in the framework of maintenance process, has announced that the mill is closed on August 20, 2003 for about a week. Feng Hsin produces monthly 50'000 tons of angles, channels and rebar. Company officials stated that the mill reserved huge inventory for the maintenance week. Futhermore, Feng Hsin is currently upgrading its No. 1 crude steel plant in order to raise its monthly output from 40'000 tons to 60'000 tons by 2005. Also, the mill will install continuous casting machine and billet caster by the end of 2004.
