Expansion projects by private Chinese mill

One of China's major private steel producers, Tangshan Jianlong Steel Co is proceeding with its expansion plans with a proposal to build an integrated plant in Inner Mongolia of 4 million tons annual capacity. According to industry reports, the building of such plant is being executed in cooperation with the authorities of Baotou city as part of the plans to boost the local economy. Thangshan Jianlong also has other expansion plans including an integrated steel plant in Ningbo with 5-6 million ton annual capacity. This project is similarly in line with the trade and investment policies of the Zhejiang provincial government. The first phase of this Ningbo Tangshan Jianlong Steel Co. project is expected to complete by 2005. Furthermore, the 500'000 mt p.a. capacity cold rolling mill in Tangshan is currently being constructed to be completed towards the end of 2004. According to reports, the feedstock of hot rolled material will be supplied to this new plant by the existing two mills of Tangshan Jianlong.
