Novokuznetsk Iron and Steel Plant (NKMK), a subsidiary of Russian steel producer Evraz Group (Evraz), has announced the completion of repairs at its electro-smelting workshop.

The repair works were carried out within the framework of two investment projects for 2008 and included the modernization of the EAF No.2 and the upgrading of the continuous billet caster No. 2. The equipment in question is used for the production of billet, which constitutes the basic production of NKMK's electro-smelting workshop.

As a result of the implementation of the two investment projects for 2008, NKMK will be able to increase the effectiveness of basic equipment at its electro-smelting workshop and to increase the workshop's productivity.
