Evraz ZSMK, a Siberian steel division of steel and mining group Evraz, has announced that it has produced 4,500 mt of 25-meter and 12-meter R50-N rails which will be shipped to Cuba before the end of February under a contract with Cuba-based Empresa Proveedora General del Transporte (TRADEX). The rails will be used for modernization of the existing railroads in accordance with a Cuban government program.

Evraz signed a contract with TRADEX in December 2014. In the current month of February, the customer visited Novokuznetsk to inspect the production process at Evraz ZSMK and to evaluate the quality of new rails.

Evraz supplies annually up to 40,000 mt of rails to extremely hot climatic areas: California and Nevada in the US, and to Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan in Central Asia. Uzbekistan is one of the company's key customers in the CIS.
