Euro area economic sentiment index declines again in August

According to data released by the EU on September 29, in September the economic sentiment index in the euro area fell to 95.0 from 98.4 in August, constituting the seventh consecutive month-on-month decrease. Meanwhile, the consumer confidence index in the euro area in September also softened, falling to -19.1 from -16.5 in August.
 
In September, the sentiment index for industry in the euro area fell to -5.9 from -2.7 in August, the sentiment index of retail trade enterprises in the euro area fell to -9.8 from -8.7 in August, while the sentiment index for the construction industry fell from -23.4 in August to -26.0
