Industrial producer prices in the European Union member states (EU-27) rose by 0.5 percent month on month in October, according to Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities. In September, the revised month-on-month increase was 0.3 percent in the region.
As compared with October 2009, industrial producer prices in October this year in the EU-27 increased by 4.5 percent.
In October, prices in overall industry excluding the energy sector improved by 0.2 percent month on month and were up 2.9 percent year on year, while prices in the energy sector increased by 1.4 percent month on month and were up 9.1 percent year on year. Prices for durable consumer goods increased by 0.1 percent over September this year and were up by 1.3 percent compared to October 2009.
On year-on-year basis, the highest increases in the overall index were recorded in
Malta at 14.8 percent and in
Bulgaria at 10.1 percent and
Hungary at 10 percent, while the smallest increase rates were registered in
Ireland at 1.7 percent and in the Czech Republic at 2.6 percent. The only decrease was seen in Slovakia at 1.1 percent.
