In the first eleven months of 2007, Russia utilized 70 percent of the revised steel quota allocated to it by the European Union (EU), while Ukraine utilized 79 percent of its EU quota. On the other hand, Kazakhstan utilized 41 percent of its allocation.
According to the latest statistics, Russia exported a total of 2,034,376 tons of steel products to the EU in the first eleven months of 2007. The revised quota allocated to Russia for 2007 is 2,904,000 tons.
Specifically, Russia used 90 percent of its hot rolled coil quota (935,205 of 1,042,090 allotted tons), 71 percent of its plate quota (191,308 of 270,820 allotted tons), 31 percent of its alloy sheet quota (29,604 of 94,860 allotted tons), and 47 percent of its wire rod quota (128,461 of 275,000 allotted tons).
With regard to Ukraine, it exported a total of 1,046,317 tons of steel products to the EU in the first eleven months of 2007, filling 79 percent of its revised quota of 1,320,000 tons.
When the figures are broken down, we see that Ukraine filled 79 percent of its hot rolled coil quota (150,603 of 190,000 allotted tons), 85 percent of its heavy plate quota (332,117 of 390,000 allotted tons), 92 percent of its beam quota (45,802 of 50,000 allotted tons), and 93 percent of its wire rod quota (182,214 of 195,000 allotted tons).
Finally, Kazakhstan exported a total of 84,333 tons of steel products to the EU in the first eleven months of 2007, filling 41 percent of its total quota of 205,000 tons.
Specifically, Kazakhstan filled 64 percent of its hot rolled coil quota (56,187 of 87,125 allotted tons), and 24 percent of its other flat rolled quota (28,146 of 118,000 allotted tons).
