As of December 3 2008, Russia utilized 67.8 percent of the revised steel quota allocated to it by the European Union (EU) for the current year, while Kazakhstan utilized 80.96 percent of its EU quota.
According to the latest statistics, Russia exported a total of 2,158,155 tons of steel products to the EU in the period in question. The revised quota allocated to Russia for 2008 is 3,182,576 tons.
Specifically, Russia used 90.06 percent of its hot rolled coil quota (1,003,208 of 1,113,993 allotted tons), 72.29 percent of its plate quota (223,319 of 308,907 allotted tons), 32.06 percent of its alloy sheet quota (33,431 of 104,290 allotted tons), and 43.06 percent of its wire rod quota (141,666 of 329,010 allotted tons).
On the other hand, Kazakhstan filled 81.35 percent of its hot rolled coil quota (70,880 of 87,125 allotted tons).
