In November this year, new car registrations totaled 1,148,618 units in the European Union (EU), increasing 5.8 percent year on year, according to the latest figures issued by the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA).
In November, growth was sustained in all major markets. Spain (+13.5%), France (+8.5%) and Italy (+8.2%) recorded increases in new car registrations on year-on-year basis, followed by the UK (+2.9%) and Germany (+1.5%).
Meanwhile, in the January-November period new passenger car registrations in the EU increased to 13.5 million units, up 7.1 percent year on year. In this period, Italy saw an increase of 16.5 percent and Spain saw an increase of 11.1 percent, while new passenger car registrations in France rose by five percent, with registrations in Germany rising by 4.6 percent and with registrations in the UK up 2.5 percent, all year-on-year basis.
