Seasonally-adjusted industrial production in the European Union member states (EU-27) in December 2010 fell 0.1 percent as compared to the previous month, according to a report released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities. In November, according to revised data, industrial production in the region had grown by 1.2 percent over October.
On the other hand, compared with December 2009, industrial production in the EU-27 in December last year improved by 7.7 percent. December was the 12th consecutive month in which a year-on-year increase was recorded.
In December last year, production of durable consumer goods in the EU-27 fell 0.1 percent as compared to the previous month but was up 1.8 percent year on year, while production of intermediate goods moved down by 1.3 percent in month on month and was up 7.9 percent over the same month of the previous year. In addition, production of energy in the EU-27 rose by 1.7 percent month on month, while the year-on-year increase was 3.8 percent.
