EU-27 industrial producer prices up 0.5 percent in November over October

Industrial producer prices in the European Union member states (EU-27) rose by 0.5 percent month on month in November, according to Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities. In October, the revised month-on-month increase was also 0.5 percent in the region.
 
As compared with November 2009, industrial producer prices in November this year in the EU-27 increased by 4.8 percent.
 
In November, prices in overall industry excluding the energy sector improved by 0.2 percent month on month and were up 3.2 percent year on year, while prices in the energy sector increased by 1.3 percent month on month and were up 8.9 percent year on year. Prices for durable consumer goods increased by 0.1 percent over October this year and were up by 1.5 percent compared to November 2009.
 
On month-on-month basis, the highest increases in the overall index were recorded in Ireland and Greece at 1.3 percent and in Bulgaria, Hungary and UK at 1.1 percent. The only decrease was seen in Cyprus at 0.7 percent while prices remained stable in Malta, Slovenia and Slovakia.
