EU-27 construction output increases further in February

According to a report released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities, in February this year the seasonally-adjusted production of the construction sector in the European Union member states (EU-27) rose by 0.7 percent as compared to January and was up 2.9 percent compared to February 2010. In January, the production figure had increased by one percent compared to the previous month, according to the newly revised data.
 
In the EU, building construction in February rose by 0.6 percent month on month and was up by 3.4 percent compared to February 2010, while civil engineering increased by 1.2 percent over January and was down 1.1 percent year on year.
 
As compared to January, construction output in February increased in the UK by 8.2 percent, in Portugal by 4.3 percent and in Germany by 3.4 percent, while month-on-month decreases of 7.9 percent and 3.8 percent respectively were registered in Slovenia and Slovakia.
