EU-27 construction output down 1.3 percent in Oct from Sept

According to a report released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities, in October this year the seasonally-adjusted production of the construction sector in the European Union member states (EU-27) decreased 1.3 percent as compared to September and was down two percent compared to October 2010. In September, production decreased 1.1 percent compared to the previous month, according to the newly revised data.

In the EU, building construction in October decreased by 1.4 percent month on month and was down 2.2 percent compared to October 2010, while civil engineering fell by 1.4 percent from September and was down by 0.6 percent as compared to the same month last year.

As compared to September, construction output in October increased in Sweden by 1.1 percent, in the United Kingdom by 0.6 percent and in Germany by 0.4 percent, while month-on-month decreases of 14.1 percent, 9.7 percent and 1.5 percent respectively were registered in Slovenia, Portugal and both Poland and Romania.
