Euro area construction output up 0.7 percent in November from October

According to first estimates released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities, in November last year the seasonally-adjusted production of the construction sector in the European Union member states (EU-28) increased by 0.7 percent compared to October and rose by 1.9 compared to the same month of 2014. In October, production had increased by 0.2 percent compared to the previous month.
 
In the euro area, the seasonally-adjusted production of the construction sector in November increased by 0.7 percent month on month and moved up by 2.1 percent year on year. In October, production had increased by 0.6 percent compared to September, according to the newly revised data.
 
Building construction in the EU-28 in November increased by 0.8 percent month on month and was up 2.0 percent year on year, while civil engineering output in the region declined 0.8 percent from October and was up by 1.5 percent year on year. In the euro area, building construction rose 1.1 percent month on month and was up 2.7 percent year on year, while civil engineering output in the region decreased by 0.3 percent month on month and by 0.5 percent year on year.
 
As compared to November 2014, construction output in November 2015 increased by 16.9 percent in Slovakia, by 10.7 percent in Sweden, by 6.8 percent in Romania and by 6.1 percent in Slovenia, while a decrease of 4.5 percent was registered in Portugal and a drop of 1.9 percent was seen in Poland. 
 
As compared to October, construction output in November increased by 15.5 percent in Slovenia, by 3.6 percent in Hungary, and by 2.9 percent both in Italy and Poland, while a decrease of 4.9 percent was registered in Slovakia and a loss of 0.7 percent was recorded in the Czech Republic.
