The Egyptian Ministry of Trade and Industry has decided to extend the antidumping duties on rebar from China, Turkey and Ukraine for another four years until June 2027.

The antidumping duties, which were initially imposed in 2017, will remain at 29 percent for China, at the range of 7-22.8 percent for Turkey and 17.2-27 percent for Ukraine.

By extending the measure, Egypt is keeping the door closed to the rebar imports from the main sources, thus supporting the domestic producers which have been suffering from numerous issues, including the financial ones. Along with covering its domestic rebar needs, Egypt has become a solid longs exporter over the past years, making a leap from being a large importer in the region. Egypt's main markets are Europe, the US, MENA region and Turkey (for wire rod).
