Italian plantmaker Danieli has announced that it will supply a new water-treatment plant for US-based steel producer Steel Dynamics Inc. (SDI) to be installed at the SDI Structural and Rail Products Division in Columbia City, Indiana, to complete the new billet welder and spooler line also ordered by SDI for the same division last year. Commissioning of the water-treatment plant is expected by the third quarter of the current year.

Danieli stated that the new water-treatment plant will be equipped with high-rate performance filters, which require fewer units thus reducing plant capital expenditure by about 30 percent and footprint by about 50 percent. The new plant will be designed for future rolling mill expansion.
