Corus to hike its rail prices

Anglo-Dutch steelmaker Corus Group announced plans to hike its rail prices for the European market by €35 per ton effective as of January 1, 2006. Corus officials indicated that price increase is necessary to offset higher costs of raw materials, energy and freight rates. The move follows Arcelor, which announced a price increase of €40 per ton for its rail products as of January 1, 2006.
