Corus invests £71 million at Port Talbot
Anglo-Dutch steelmaker Corus is planning to invest £71 million at its Port Talbot steel plant in South
Wales where a major explosion occured on November 8, 2001.
The company has spent £75 million since 2001 to rebuild the No. 5 blast furnace which was completely destroyed in the explosion.
With this latest investment which will be completed by March 2005 , Corus aims to increase the annual
production capacity to 4.7 million tons.
Furthermore, the increased output will be able to meet all its rolling mill requirements. In addition, this project will create job oppotunity for Corus' Welsh operation.
