Concast installs five-strand continuous caster at China’s Zhangjiagang Rongsheng Steel

German plantmaker SMS group has announced that its subsidiary Swiss Concast AG (Concast) has successfully commissioned a new five-strand continuous caster with hot charging facilities, and upgraded the meltshop No. 2 at Chinese Zhangjiagang Rongsheng Steel Making Co. Ltd, a subsidiary of China's steel producer Shagang Group. The upgrade will allow Zhangjiagang Rongsheng Steel to produce SBQ steel grades for Chinese domestic market.

The new continuous caster, which will produce mild carbon steel billets for Chinese market, enhances the two existing five-strand casters at the plant's meltshop, which now operates with a total of 15 strands.

Currently, at Chinese Zhangjiagang Rongsheng Steel operates billet casters comprising a total of 45 strands, all supplied by Concast.
