The market price of color
coated coil remained stable this week (week 39), compared with the previous week. The market trade volume grew while market inventories of color
coated coil did not change much in comparison with the week before. The August export and import data for color
coated coil were released during the week by the Chinese authorities, while Jiangyin UnionSteel also issued a new ex-factory price list for October.
On September 29, the average market price of 0.476mm color
coated coil was RMB 6,533/mt ($829), up RMB 33/mt ($4) compared with last week; that of 0.4mm color
coated coil was RMB 7,053/mt ($893), up RMB 6/mt ($1) compared with last week; while that of 0.286 mm color
coated coil imported from
Taiwan based Yieh Phui was unchanged at RMB 7,975/mt ($1,004).
The market price of color
coated coil remained relatively stable throughout the week. The market trade volume grew to some extent while the market inventories of color
coated coil were unchanged. While the downstream demand has been increasing, customers have begun to strengthen their purchases. Traders mainly focused on improving their sales volume. Market supplies of color
coated coil were still at a low level, while the market price of
galvanized coil maintained its continuous rise - so giving traders cause for optimism in relation to future market trends. From the new steel mill prices issued this week, we see that the ex-factory prices remained basically unchanged compared with last week. This maintained traders' confidence as regards the post-National Day market prices. The new ex-factory price of Jiangyin UnionSteel for October remained unchanged compared with the September prices.
During the week the Chinese authorities released the August export and import statistical data for color
coated coil. According to the new figures, the August imports of color
coated coil stood at 25,000 metric tons, up 6,900 metric tons compared with July. The August export of color
coated coil was recorded at 52,500 metric tons, up 7,300 metric tons compared with July. Thus, net exports of color
coated coil totaled 27,500 metric tons in August, up just 400 metric tons on the previous month.
