Colombian iron and steel exports down 53.4 percent in May

In the first five months of this year, Colombia exported 52,242 mt of ferronickel, down 1.4 percent, with a value of $207,483 million, down by eleven percent, both year on year, as announced by the Colombian National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE). In May this year, the country's ferronickel exports amounted to 8,320 mt, decreasing by 33.4 percent, while the revenue from these exports was $29.04 million, down 54.6 percent, both compared to May 2014.
 
In the first five months of the current year, Colombia's iron and steel export volume totaled 78,223 mt, down 17.9 percent, with a value of $245,571 million, declining by 15.6 percent, both on year-on-year basis. In May this year, Colombian iron and steel exports amounted to 10,367 mt, decreasing by 53.4 percent, and were worth $32,375 million, down 58 percent, both compared to the same month of 2014.
