According to the data issued by the Association of Russian Commercial Sea Ports, in the first nine months of the current year freight traffic passing through the ports of Russia increased by 6.7 percent year on year to 393.32 million mt. During the period in question, the export cargo handled at Russian ports amounted to 304.34 million mt - up 6.2 percent compared to January-September 2009.
Meanwhile, in January-September this year, the transshipment of coal through Russia's ports increased by 3.6 percent year on year to 51.02 million mt, while transshipment of ferrous scrap was at the level of the previous year, amounting to 1.99 million mt.
