Coal supply and demand in China to remain in equilibrium in H2

On June 13, the Chinese National Energy Administration (NEA) stated that coal supply and demand are expected to remain in equilibrium in China in the second half of the current year. Despite a possible lack of balance between supply and demand in certain regions of the country, no serious supply shortages are expected to occur in the given period.

The NEA stated that, in order to ensure sufficient supplies of coal in China in the second half of the year, it has implemented additional measures. Accordingly, as of June 1, power supply charges have been hiked in 15 provinces of China, with the aim of limiting energy consumption. As a result, coal demand in China is expected to follow a neutral trend in the coming period. On the supply side, domestic coal production has been increasing gradually.
