Coal exports from PWCS up 11.88 percent in August from July

Coal exports from Port Waratah Coal Services (PWCS) terminals based at Port of Newcastle in New South Wales, Australia, totaled 10.07 million mt in August this year, increasing by 11.88 percent compared to July, according to the company's announcement. 12 percent of the total coal handled at the terminals in August was coking coal.
 
According to the the released information, Japan was the largest export destination for coal shipments from PWCS in August this year, with shipments to Japan accounting for 44.58 percent of total shipments, while coal exports to South Korea made up 15.76 percent of the total. 
 
PWCS accounts for one third of Australia's exports of coal, which is the country's second most important export commodity in terms of value.
