CNMC sees progress on nickel project in Myanmar

China Nonferrous Metal Mining (Group) Co. (CNMC) has successfully completed the construction of its No.1 ore-smelting furnace at its Dagon Hill nickel project in Myanmar.

This completed furnace is 32 meters long, nine meters wide, and 6.3 meters high.

CNMC has invested $820 million in the Dagon Hill nickel project. The company started construction work on the project in 2009 and is expected to begin production operations within the current year. CNMC plans to produce 85,000 mt of ferronickel annually from the project.
