CNCA: no significant changes expected in coal supply-demand balance in 2023

In 2023, China’s coal supply and demand balance is expected to move sideways, in particular, due to the intensified supervision over commitments of term contracts, according to the latest press-release, held by China’s National Coal Association (CNCA) on March 28.  

Meanwhile, in 2022 China’s coal output increased by 10.5 percent year on year to 4.56 billion mt, having reached the highest level in the history, according to the press release held by China National Coal Industry Association on March 28. Meanwhile, China’s coal imports amounted to 293 million mt of in the given year, down 9.2 percent year on year.  

By the end of 2022 year, coal inventories of the Chinese enterprises totalled 66 million mt of, up 26.6 percent year on year, while coal inventories at main ports dropped 6.8 percent year on year to 55.3 million tonnes.
