Irving, Texas-based Commercial Metals Co.(CMC) announced that its Hope, Arkansas facility will close April 29.

The CMC Joist and Deck Co. fabricating plant at Hope builds lightweight steel joists used in construction of large retail stores; CMC President and CEO Murray McClean announced last week that the company has decided to get out of the joist and deck fabrication business because the demand outlook is weak.

The plant laid off 60 workers in January due to reduced product demand, and another 50 to 60 employees will lose their jobs after the plant closure.
