The China Iron and Steel association (CISA) has announced that in late January (Jan. 21-31) this year the large and medium-sized Chinese steel enterprises which are CISA members produced 19.3246 million metric tons of crude steel, 17.6981 million metric tons of pig iron, 18.4883 million metric tons of finished steel, and 3.462 million metric tons of metallurgical coke. In late January, the companies in question recorded average aggregate daily outputs of 1.7568 million metric tons of crude steel, down 1.26 percent, 1.6089 million metric tons of pig iron, up 0.55 percent, 1.6808 million metric tons of finished steel, down 0.64 percent, and 0.3147 million metric tons of coke, up 1.11 percent, all compared to mid-January (Jan. 11-20).
For the late January period, overall production in China is estimated at 24.3355 million metric tons, 20.2678 million metric tons of pig iron, 31.2752 million metric tons of finished steel and 12.6094 million metric tons of coke, with respective average aggregate daily output figures of 2.2123 million metric tons of crude steel, 1.8425 million metric tons of pig iron, 2.8432 million metric tons of finished steel, and 1.1463 million metric tons of coke.
